Our 8 year old daughter had never had a dry night, and in fact, used to sometimes flood her pullups. Yet my 7 year old son had been night dry since about 4 years old. We bought the total kit and overlays, and started her on the drinking program for about 3 weeks. I was trying to determine if her pullups were getting lighter each morning, but they still felt pretty full. We started the alarm system, and used the advice from another mother on your feedback page, and used pullups over knickers (great advice). The first night, my daughter woke up herself and turned off the alarm (I was expecting to have to go in and wake her up). Within 7 nights, technically she had a dry night, cos she woke up before the alarm. She had about 4 dry nights in a row, then then alarm went off, but she hardly even wet her knickers. After about 10 dry nights in a row, we stopped using the pullups and used the overlays, since even the wet nights, weren't really very wet. Within about 5 weeks, she reached her 21 days dry in a row goal. She was very proud of herself, and hasn't had a wet night since. I can't recommend this system highly enough. I think bedwetting is more common than we think, but parents just don't mention it due to the stigma. I've recommended it to quite a few people, who have been open about their child's bedwetting. "The alarm is now turned on in my head" Click to review this productChristine - 10/08/2010 I've been meaning for a long time to write to say thank you so much for your bedwetting information. It literally has changed our lives. Our 6yo son was always a big night wetter, being wet 2 to 3 times a night, every single night of his life. That was a lot of washing sheets, (and living in Ireland it's almost impossible to get sheets dry without constant use of the dryer) and with two smaller children as well, it was certainly tough going. A year ago I read your site and somewhere it said that for heavy wetters like my son, he would not "grow out of it" for a very long time. At the same time his 15yo cousin had finally stopped wetting the bed, and I just couldn't bear the thought of my son having a problem with bedwetting for another 10 years or so. So we started the drinking programme. Because he was such a heavy wetter (and we also had visitors for a month during the time), we ended up doing the programme for 3 months before we went on to use the alarm. Within a week of using the alarm (and maintaining the drinking programme) my son already had a few dry nights, and within six weeks he was completely dry every night. That was a year ago, and he has been completely dry ever since. I thought he summed it up well himself, one night he said to me, "Mummy, the alarm is now turned on in my head". Doing the programme in conjunction with the alarm really trained his body what to do. He rarely sleeps the night through, but wakes during the night to go to the toilet. And he is so proud of himself as well. Just recently he admitted that he never really liked going to sleep because he always woke up wet, but now he doesn't mind it when he goes to sleep. He now lives like any other little boy, and we don't worry about him staying over somewhere else, or how many drinks he has with dinner. So thank you so much for all your information and advice. I recommend your website to everyone I talk to who has a problem with bedwetting. |
